I was heading to Trader Joe's on sixth avenue and saw a huge Marketplace sign in front of a church...Well at least I thought it was a church. To my surprise, this structure is home to the Limelight Marketplace. I went inside for a quick tour and found the shops to be very charming, yet very empty. It was a bit strange for me because the architecture and stained-glass windows all reminded me of church. Nonetheless, it was a good surprise to step through the arched-doors and see the stunning variety of products and services available. There was even a gelato and sorbet stand in the back corner. I later learned that the market was the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, which was built in 1844 and later operated as the limelight nightclub. Pretty intriguing...
